To make a wide nose narrower, the alar wedge excision rhinoplasty procedure is often used. This procedure is a way of reducing the size of a person’s nostrils.
After an alar wedge excision procedure has taken place, two or more layers of medical stitches are used to close up the incision. The first layer is typically dissolvable. In up to two weeks after the procedure (but usually only five days), the external sutures are removed by the physician.
